Phil will fix it, yes he will!

It's been one of those weeks.... For 3 days we tried to fill Sofia's new pool - the Intex easy set. It holds over 1,000 gallons of water, so you can imagine what kind of a show we've had in filling, and then emptying it, over and over.
The household water here runs into the houses via a water tank, individually set in everyone's garden from the mains. It fills automatically after tap has been run. This way it can also protect a household for a short while when (and I mean when, not if) the water is cut out. Well, turns out this tank isn't big enough to fill our pool twice a day. The Intex pool turned into a somewhat dirty protest come biology experiment when Phil decided to put enough chlorine in to kill the germs in all pools in 1 km radius of ours, combined with the very last rusty waters from the tank. Turns out chlorine + rust = green-brown water. Yuck.

Wise to this now, Phil realised there is a valve at the bottom of the water tank; release it, let some water out, and hey presto, clean water coming up. With a tip from a fellow pool owner, we then attached the hose into the washing machine filter and, finally, clean water started flowing into the washed pool. With a bit of planning, and a break overnight to let the water tank fill up with clean(ish) water, the pool was ready for action mid-morning. Only 3 days later from the first let's put the pool up.

Shame this process put our washing machine out of action. The amount of sedimentary water running through the filter required a new, clean filter. Not to worry, Phil set on the mission at 5.30 pm. 3 hours and 2 more shops later, the filter was fixed. Turns out not all the filters are universal, as guaranteed by the shop personnel (oh, why do we still believe what they say....! But that's another story, worth its own post).

Filter in, the tap on - and turns out that the lead from the filter has developed a leak! So it's spraying water all over. Oh, I guess it's another trip to the shops for Phil..... And no washing for me!

In the other news we've also fixed the hoover, one of the air conditioning units, the boat and the leaking toilet this week. Luckily my husband is fairly handy!
