Happy official Birthday, Queen!

The High Commissioner to Brunei hosted a group of foreign dignitaries and British citizens (and few frauds, like myself!) at the Empire hotel to mark the Queen's official birthday.

Whilst it was a far cry from the garden parties held at the Finnish embassy (someone indeed compared it to a trade's fair), the British food was at it's best.

The High commissioner delivered an opening speech to welcome the 2nd deputy Minister of Finance in the PM's office (this is clearly how important we are). And we had the joy of receiving the Foreign Minister's greetings of the current affairs, that we shared with the Russian diplomats.

The buffet was full of British delicacies; perfectly pink roast beef with deep fried Yorkshire puddings (you take what you can in this country...), fish&chips wrapped in newspaper, mini trifles and an excellent cheese board. (I wish I had the same cheese supplier!) All this washed down with copious amounts of Pepsi. Queen is another year older (officially), we are celebrating our first year in Brunei next month - wonder whose year has been more eventful...
