First it started pissing water on our Ikea paper lampshade (I'm sure every one has got one of those!) - brilliant. Even more conveniently, it started spitting out blocks of ice. Ouch! And finally the main unit stopped working. Which was particularly nice since we had been away for 2 weeks and the house was already boiling hot.
Compared to the normal housing services, the aircon company isn't too bad. If it's an emergency - which a broken aircon unit most certainly is in this climate - they arrive the same day. It might only be a diagnostic visit, though, rather than actually fixing the problem. But at least they acknowledge a lady in distress! (And can I also note that it isn't classed as a luxury item, such as a shower is in the UK...! ) Well, at least normally - yesterday I had to ring them four times to get someone to come around to finally receive a phone call to hear that "the engineers have been to your house and are pleased how well the unit is working now". I've got no idea whose aircon they randomly fixed yesterday but it sure wasn't ours!!! Or maybe they've been on the beach all afternoon, and reporting ghost jobs at the office; who knows.
